Rocky Point Jazz Festival April 22nd – 23
Doc Jones, of the International Jazz Day Foundation Arizona, as well as of 504 and 602 CityBuzz Magazines, has teamed up with AZ event promoter Eduardo “Lalo” Gonzalez this year to plan an April celebration of jazz
Headlining the event will be Nayo Jones, along with Carlos Rivas & his Mex-Sal orchestra, among other local and international artists.
Here’s the lineup for the International Jazz Day Festival in Puerto Penasco aka Rocky Point.

New Orleans Recording Artist Ms. Nayo Jones headlines this year’s 1st Jazz Day Celebration in Puerto Penasco
• Carlos Rivas – International Latino Jazz Artist who has performed throughout the world and is Founder and Director of Mex-Sal, one of Arizona’s most prestigious performing Latin groups;
• Kerry Campbell – Jazz saxophonist and former member of The Dramatics and famed band War. Campbell has performed with jazz greats Herbie Hancock, George Duke, Joe Sample among others;
• Mario Abney – Chicago born trumpet master and Jazz raised trumpet player is also currently out of New Orleans. Mario fuses tradition and extended trumpet techniques in a most inventive way. Mario’s striking personality comes through in his delivery of music through his instrument presenting listeners to an infinite array of tonal color;
• William “Doc” Jones – Jazz saxophonist, keyboard artist, founder of NextStudent Academy and Int’l Jazz Day AZ Foundation, Doc Jones has performed with Aretha Franklin, Jerry Butler and traveled with The Temptations among other well known groups.
• Puerto Peñasco’s own Richard Scott Ensemble will be performing along with Special guest, To be name later
Festival will take place at the stage at the Malecon (Old Port) starting at 8pm on Friday and Saturday. Free event!
