Built in 2001, the beautiful Sonoran Spa Rocky Point by Castaways is a family friendly resort located right on Puerto Peñasco’s most sought after beach, Sandy Beach. The resort has 202 beautifully, individually decorated beach front and ocean view condominiums. Depending on the location of your condo at the Sonoran Spa you may enjoy wonderful sunsets over Sandy Beach to the West or the mesmerizing city lights of the city of Puerto Penasco and the Port to the East.

The Sonoran Spa Resort Hotel is just steps away from the ocean. So close that if you open your over sized balcony sliding door at night you will fall asleep to the lullaby of the waves crashing on the beach.

The resort has 2 Jacuzzis (one for adults and one for families), 3 beachfront swimming pools with a small water slide for the kids, full service spa (La Spa de Penasco), Sonoran Grill Restaurant offering delicious seafood, Mexican and American food. A grocery store, complete fitness center, 2 BBQ areas, tennis court, business center, children’s play area. There is also a full service “tiki bar” by the pool available on weekends.

The condominiums have fully equipped kitchens with pots, dishes and utensils, washer and dryer, covered balcony overlooking the ocean and WIFI.

The Sonoran Spa Rocky Point by Castaways offers 24 hour security. The hotel grounds are gated and actively monitored. You will always have security guards walking around the entire resort premises. The strong security allows first time visitors the safety you need to feel while being away with your family.

You can get drinks at the “tiki bar” located by the pool.  The restaurant is also near by located on the ground floor where you can order food.

No, this is not available right at the Sonoran Spa Resort.  But there are always vendors on the beach right in front of the resort who have jet skies, banana boat rides, paddle boards and kayaks available for rent.  You can also get a beach massage at very affordable rates.  Usually about 40.00 an hour.

Check in is at 4 pm and check out is at 11 am.  If you arrive earlier than 4 pm you can check in and get your bracelets and you will be allowed to use the restaurant and facilities in the common areas while you wait for your condo to be ready.

ATV rentals are not available right at Sonoran Spa Resort but you will see lots of vendors down the street.  They are almost everywhere in the Sandy beach area.

The pool closes every day at 10pm

No, there is no daily maid service provided but if you wish you can schedule a cleaning at the front desk for an additional fee.

Room service is not available but restaurant is located on the ground floor where you can place your order and come back and get it later.

Yes, charcoal BBQ grills are available by the parking lot area of the Sonoran Spa Rocky Point.  Bring your own charcoal.

Yes, every condo has a balcony with an ocean view.

Please visit the spa’s website at http://www.laspa.mx/ for current pricing information and for reservations.  The Spa normally has a very good special for an hour massage and hour pedicure for a total of $75.00! Contact the spa to make sure special is still available.  You may also be interested in other seasonal specials they offer.

All condos at Sonoran Spa Rocky Point have beautiful ocean views.

If you are renting a one bedroom condo they are all located in the middle building (north building).  We suggest choosing a one bedroom condo that is more towards the middle of the building for a full ocean view.  The one bedroom condos located at the furthest ends of the building have partially obstructed ocean views.

Yes, one pool is heated during the cooler months.

You are only allowed to smoke in the common areas and balconies unless otherwise stated.

No, you can use the water for bathing, doing dishes, etc. We recommend you bring bottled water for drinking and brushing your teeth.

No, pets are not allowed at the Sonoran Spa Resort.  This includes service animals.

No, only resort guests are allowed to enjoy the facilities.

No, extra bracelets are not available for sale.  You will only get bracelets for the people allowed to be in your condo and they are included with your reservation.

Yes, everyone staying at the Sonoran Spa Resort requires a bracelet with he exception of children ages 2 years old and younger.

The occupancy limits are as follows:
1 Bedroom Condo sleeps  2 adults and 2 children 12 years old and younger.  Two people if no sofa bed.
2 Bedroom Condo sleeps 4 adults and 2 children 12 years old and younger.  Four people if no sofa bed.
3 Bedroom Condo sleeps 6 adults and 2 children 12 years old and younger.  Six people if no sofa bed.

Children 2 years and younger do not get bracelets.

The Sonoran Spa Resort has its own restaurant and right accross the street you will also find Banditos (restaurant/bar) and Changos (Bar).  The Reef is also located about a mile away.  Downtown “Malecon” is located only about a 5 to 8 minute drive away and Calle 13 is also just about a 5 minute drive away or less than 2 mile walk on the beach.  Visit our maps page for directions.

Yes, you can have your own food and drinks by the pool but make sure all your drinks are in plastic containers.  No glass allowed.

No swim up bar but there is a “tiki bar” right next to the pool where you can buy alcoholic drinks.

No, all inclusive packages are not available at the Sonoran Spa Puerto Peñasco.

Yes, all condos include a hair dryer.

GOOD TO KNOW

  • There is no shade on the beach.  You can bring a collapsible shade canopy if you’d like.  Lots of people just leave them out on the beach during their stay without problems.
  • You will find the lowest rates at Sonoran Spa Rocky Point by Castaways are lower during off season which is November through February, excluding holidays.
  • All condos at Sonoran Spa Resort Puerto Penasco are individually owned so they are all furnished differently.
  • For a more panoramic ocean view choose condos on higher floors.
  • If you find anything broken when you arrive in your condo tell the front desk right away so you don’t get charged for it.
  • WiFi can be very slow during busy times, especially weekends.  Be prepared for that.
  • All condos at Sonoran Spa Puerto Peñasco have fully equipped kitchens, bring your own groceries if you want to save some money.  There is also a very big grocery store at the entrance of town called Aurrera and a Sam’s club right next to it.
  • Bring your own beach towels, shampoo and conditioner as they are not provided.
  • Your condo is clean when you arrive but there is no daily maid service during your stay.  You can arrange for an additional cleaning with the resort for an extra charge.
  • There is noise control especially after 10pm when you will not be allowed to be loud or play loud music.
  • All one bedroom condos are located in the middle building.  The other 2 buildings on the side have 2 and 3 bedroom condos.
  • There is no swim up bar but there is a full service “tiki bar” by the pool.  As of the time of this writing the Tiki bar is only open Thursday through Monday from 1pm to 7pm.  Time can change during the off season months.
  • If you want a more quiet room stay on higher floors.  During very busy times the lower floors, particularly ground floor tend to be noisier due to their proximity to the pool.
  • If you want to see the sunrise the building facing east is the best.  If you want to see the sunset then choose the building facing west.
  • During the summer months the east building gets afternoon shade.
  • You may wish to bring napkins, paper towels, standard coffee filters, salt and pepper.
  • There is a washer and dryer in all condos.  Laundry detergent for one use is provided as well as dishwasher soap.  But you may want to bring soap for hand washing dishes.
  • The full service restaurant is open Thursday through Monday from 1pm to 7pm.  Time can change during the off season months.
