Sonoran SPA vs Sonoran SEA
Where should you stay?
For those of you who don’t know there are currently four Sonoran resorts in Puerto Penasco. They are some of the most popular places to stay in the area.
Sonoran SKY, Sonoran SUN, Sonoran SPA and Sonoran SEA and a fifth one coming soon, Sonoran STAR.
These resorts consist of all privately owned condos. Each one offers slightly different service and amenities. Each one has their own HOA with small differences in their rules and regulations.
All the Sonoran resorts are located alongside Sandy Beach and two of them are right next to each other, the Sonoran SEA and the Sonoran SPA.
These two resorts are very similar but there are some slight differences. They were both built around the same time (2001 to 2003), and they have almost the same amount of condos.
The Sonoran Sea has 2 buildings, each 10 stories with 228 condos. The Sonoran Spa has 3 buildings, each 8 stories and 202 condos.
At the Sonoran Spa all of the 1 bedroom condos are located in the middle building which sits slightly further back from the other 2 buildings.
Customer’s Review
One of our customers really likes to stay at the Sonoran Resorts when she visits Rocky Point. She sometimes stays at the Sonoran Spa, while other times at the Sonoran Sea. She normally travels with family members including her 2 young children.
We asked her to tell us what the main differences are between both properties from her perspective, and this is what she shared.
In her experience, the Sonoran Spa has a calmer vibe. It’s quieter during the evening hours and in the pool, you usually find more families with children than just adults.
At the Sonoran Spa she enjoys going downstairs and eating at the Sonoran Grill. Her daughter’s favorite are the chicken tacos.
When she stays at the Sonoran Sea, she says she does it for the heated pool, however in her opinion the Sonoran Sea tends to attract more adults without kids who enjoy a drink or two in the pool bar. Even though both properties have noise ordinances at night, when she has stayed at the Sonoran Sea the music is louder until the evening hours, making it fun, but not as relaxing and quiet as the Sonoran Spa.
Both resorts share the same beach and that is why she likes to stay in that area. She says that stretch of Sandy Beach has the finest sand and almost no rocks.
She says she likes that both properties have shaded areas with tables by the beach and has utilized the services of the concierge/rental office at the Sonoran Sea where you can book evening cruises, activities, and even kayaks.
As far as food availability, the Sonoran Sea also has a restaurant (El Restaurant de Ramon) that offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, whereas the restaurant at the Sonoran Spa, the Sonoran Grill is only open in the afternoons.
There are stores and food options within walking distance of both resorts.
Both properties offer one, two- and three-bedrooms condos with ocean front views and include free Wi-Fi.
All condos include a full-size kitchen, living room area with TV, some of the condos provide movies and board games, the bathrooms include towels and paper products.
Both resorts have a zero noise tolerance rule after 10pm.
