Sonoran Sun Resort in Rocky Point Mexico (Puerto Penasco)

Built in 2005 the Sonoran Sun is a beautiful Mediterranean style resort located right on Sandy Beach with all the amenities of a luxury resort. Two ocean front buildings with 228 units offering 1, 2 and 3 bedroom condos.

Luxurious beautifully decorated condos with granite counter tops, travertine and marble floors. All condos have large balconies offering breath taking ocean views. Watch dolphins, seals and pelicans right from your condo! When the ocean breeze is blowing, open the balcony sliding door and fall asleep to the beautiful sounds of the waves crashing on the shore.

The Sonoran Sun Resort in Rocky Point Mexico offers a large beachfront heated adult pool with an attached kids wading pool. Two jacuzzis (one for adults and one for families), pool chair islands, shallow chairs for lounging, swim-up bar, outdoor showers and restrooms.

The property also has a restaurant and sports bar onsite, convenience store, business center with high speed internet, large fitness center, tennis court and spa.

You can rent kayaks, sailboats, boogie boards, jet skies, banana boat rides and more right on the beach in front of the Sonoran Sun Resort in Puerto Penasco.

At low tide you will enjoy finding your own sand dollars and beautiful shells. Watch the hermit crabs and small fish that live in the tidal pools that are visible during low tide.

Sonoran Sun Resort Rocky Point 1 Bedroom 1 Bath Condo.  Sleeps 2 adults and 2 children 12 years old and under if condo has a sofa bed.  If no sofa bed then only 2 guests are allowed in condo.  Ocean front views, full kitchen, balcony, living room.  King or queen bed in master bedroom.
Living area has a total of 734 sq ft plus a 178 sq ft balcony.  912 total sq ft.

Sonoran Sun Resort Rocky Point 2 Bedroom 2 Bath Condo.  Sleeps 4 adults and 2 children 12 years old and under if condo has a sofa bed.  If no sofa bed then only 4 guests are allowed in condo.  Ocean front views, full kitchen, balcony, living room.  Bed type depends on which condo you choose.
This 2 bedroom condo offers a living area of 1,200 sq ft with a 300 sq ft balcony for a combined total of  1,500 sq ft.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

You can get drinks at the “tiki bar” located by the pool.  The restaurant is also near by located on the ground floor where you can order food.

No, this is not available right at the Sonoran Sun Resort.  But there are always vendors on the beach right in front of the resort who have jet skies, banana boat rides, paddle boards and kayaks available for rent.  You can also get a beach massage at very affordable rates.  Usually about 40.00 an hour.

Check in is at 4 pm and check out is at 11 am.  If you arrive earlier than 4 pm you can check in and get your bracelets and you will be allowed to use the restaurant and facilities in the common areas while you wait for your condo to be ready.

ATV rentals are not available right at Sonoran Sun Resort but you will see lots of vendors down the street.  They are almost everywhere in the Sandy beach area.

The pool closes every day at 10pm

No, there is no daily maid service provided but if you wish you can schedule a cleaning at the front desk for an additional fee.

Room service is not available but restaurant is located on the ground floor where you can place your order and come back and get it later.

Yes, charcoal BBQ grills are available by the parking lot area of the Sonoran Sun Resort Rocky Point.  Bring your own charcoal.

Yes, every condo has a balcony with an ocean view.

Yes, the pool is heated throughout the wither months.

During the cooler months the swim up bar is only open on weekends with limited hours.

You are only allowed to smoke in the common areas and balconies unless otherwise stated.

No, you can use the water for bathing, doing dishes, etc. We recommend you bring bottled water for drinking and brushing your teeth.

No, pets are not allowed at the Sonoran Sun Resort.  This includes service animals.

No, only resort guests are allowed to enjoy the facilities.

No, extra bracelets are not available for sale.  You will only get bracelets for the maximum number of guests allowed in your condo.

The Sonoran Sun Resort has its own restaurant and it’s also really close to Banditos (restaurant/bar) and Changos (Bar).  The Reef is also located less than a mile away as well as Mar Blu restaurant.  Downtown “Malecon” is located only about a 5 to 8 minute drive away and Calle 13 is also just about a 5 minute drive away or less than 2 mile walk on the beach.  Visit our maps page for directions.

Yes, you can have your own food and drinks by the pool but make sure all your drinks are in plastic containers.  No glass allowed.

No swim up bar but there is a “tiki bar” right next to the pool where you can buy alcoholic drinks.

No, all inclusive packages are not available at the Sonoran Sun Resort Puerto Peñasco.

GOOD TO KNOW

  • Bring your own beach/pool towels as only bath towels are provided in the condos.
  • Condos located on higher floors offer more panoramic ocean views but all condos have ocean views.
  • All condos are individually owned so furnishing vary from one condo to another.
  • Condos located on the corners are great for large groups as they have the largest balconies.
  • Ground floor units offer great convenience but have less privacy and can be noisier than higher floors due to close proximity to the pool.
  • Anyone above the age of 12 is considered an adult and you may have extra charges depending on the size of your condo.
  • If you want to see the sunsets choose a condo in the East building.  For night time city views choose a condo in the West Building.  In the summer months condos in the west building have afternoon shade.
  • There is no daily maid service but you can arrange for a cleaning for an additional fee
  • There is no shampoo or conditioner so bring your own.
  • You may also want to bring paper towels, napkins, salt, pepper, cooking oil.
  • All condos have a washer and dryer and soap is provided for one wash.
  • You will be required to put down a fully refundable security deposit of $200.00 for each condo when you check in to cover possible damages.  If no damages then your security deposit will be refunded.
  • Bring small bills ones and fives if you plan on buying items from the beach vendors.  They often do not have change for larger bills.
